| This 13th-century-style Gothic church was begun in 1858. Though not completed, the doors of were opened to the public in 1879. The west front towers were completed in 1888. Other additions, enlargements and modifications have taken place over the years including the installation of the Great Organ by 1931. The famous Great Rose stained glass window is 26 feet in diameter and is considered to be the finest work designed by Charles Connick. In the late 1980s much of the roof was replaced, the interior refurbished and the electronic amplification system was modernized. | St. Patrick's is the seat of the Archdiocese of New York. It is the largest decorated gothic-style Catholic Cathedral in the United States and also one of the most popular attractions in New York City attracting over three million visitors annually. It is located on the Fifth Avenue across from Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall.
