The 60 foot Gorman Falls is a light to medium flow cascade of Gorman Creek (a tributary of Texas' Colorado River). Gorman Falls is impressive for several reasons. The waterfall is just what most waterfall
aficionados are seeking, the associated lush vegetation is quite a rewarding eyeful and the rare travertine* formations are exquisite. Additionally, the many small travertine dams have formed quiet pools of clear water inhabited by quite a variety of aquatic life.
To protect the fragile environment of Gorman Falls, the area currently can only be visited through guided tours. Tours (weather permitting): Saturdays 10a and 2p; Sundays 10a only. No pets allowed on tours.
*The Vermont Marble, Granite, Slate & Soapstone Co. in Killington, Vermont maintains an excellent web site displaying various forms of travertine.
