A productive village in the 19th Century utilizing the power of falling water for several industries around
the 66 foot Brandywine Falls, modernization reduced the viability of these industries until, today, all that is left are the beautiful waterfall and a few ruins of what once was. Cascading over the harder, yellow-brown Berea Sandstone while eroding the softer, deep red Bedford Shale, Brandywine Creek has carved a beautiful and highly frequented attraction.
There are two observation platforms, an upper and lower, accessed by some rather steep stairs. The recently added, award-winning, million dollar boardwalk, will also allow you to visit an old mill site - a relic of the past - and with a few more steps, the top of Brandywine Falls.
How to get there:
From the Ohio Turnpike
(Interstate 80 exit 100 � or I-271 exit 18):
Exit the Turnpike (I-80) or I-271 onto
OH-8 northbound (toward Northfield Center). Follow OH-8 to OH-82 (Aurora Road), turn left and drive 0.8 miles to Brandywine Road.
Turn left, again, and follow Brandywine (southbound) 2.6 miles to Stanford Road (immediately after the Brandywine Inn). Turn right and, almost immediately, turn left into the Brandywine Falls parking lot.
From Interstate 271:
Take exit 18 and follow OH-8 northbound (toward Northfield Center). Follow OH-8 to OH-82 (Aurora Road), turn left and drive 0.8 miles to Brandywine Road.
