Texas Waterfalls

Way back in 1886, a Texas-sized flash flood wiped away the 5-foot waterfall across the Big Wichita River for which the town of Wichita Falls was named. One hundred years later, Wichita Falls, the city that is, designed and built a 54 foot, 4-tierd concrete replacement for their 5-foot waterfall. After all, the city is named Wichita Falls so it MUST have a waterfall. (It is said that they even invited the mayor of Niagara to participate in the dedication of their new waterfall. Only in Texas!

Texas seems to have a little of everything - even waterfalls in a land where water can be at an extreme premium (or, in other years, awash with it). Here is a sampling of some of the more prominent waterfalls in Texas.
