DeSoto Falls
DeSoto Falls State Park
(north of Dahlonega GA)

Frogtown Creek slides down a 200 foot granite slide to the middle falls (probably most photographed) where it tumbles as a series of cascades for about 80 more feet. Then, another 20 foot cascade, the lower falls, ends the show and Frogtown Creek gurgles just loud enough to be heard from the trail as you approach the falls. Depending upon the water flow, it is one beautiful series of waterfalls, some wide, some narrow, and an immense pleasure to watch and hear.

There is an easy, 1 mile trail to the lower falls. It is another mile, over a much more difficult trail (due to many fallen trees), to the upper falls. The upper falls, however, can be viewed from US-129. The trail follows Frogtown Creek and, in the Spring, you are additionally rewarded by a landscape covered with various wildflowers.
