Burney Falls
McArthur-Burney Falls State Park
(east of Redding CA)

McArthur-Burney Falls State Park in the Cascade Mountain Range is host to the 129-foot Burney Falls of Burney Creek. While certainly not the tallest waterfall in California, it is certainly among the most beautiful. More like a river than a creek, the water crashes on the rocks below creating an eerie mist that is absolutely haunting. Administered by the California State Parks Department, more information about this and other California State Parks is available on their web site at:

How to get there:

From the I-5 freeway, just north of Redding, go east on CA-299 east through Burney to CA-89. Turn left (north) and continue another 6 miles to the park entrance.

An excellent summary of the State Park and the Burney Falls is available on the Burney Chamber of Commerce web site at:

Hotel and Motel accommodations, usually at a discount, are available in Redding or Mount Shasta, the gateways to this awesome area.
